Additions to CMDS e-Learning
We have recently added 2 new modules to the CMDS eLearning library, Introduction to Thermal Expansion of Fluids and Over Pressure Protection by System Design and High Integrity Pressure Protection Systems (OPPSD & HIPPS).
We have also updated the Amine Gas Sweetening Overview module.
Introduction to Thermal Expansion of Fluids
This module provides a basic awareness of thermal expansion of fluids by exploring related incidents. Topics introduced are:
- Thermal expansion overview
- Pressure rise hazards
- Methods to mitigate the hazards
- Volume increase calculations
Over Pressure Protection by System Design and High Integrity Pressure Protection Systems
This module explores the requirements of AB-525 legislation as related to OPPSD and HIPPS Systems, introduced by ABSA in 2013. The objectives of this module is to provide the reader with background information on over pressure protection and how this is related to OPPSD and HIPPS Systems. Topics introduced are:
- Legislation related to over pressure protection
- Types of overpressure pressure protection systems and the related components
- How OPPSD and HIPPS systems protect pressure equipment from overpressure
- Common monitoring and maintenance requirements for OPPSD and HIPPS systems
- Hazards associated with OPPSD and HIPPS systems
Amine Gas Sweetening Overview
Additional content was added that discusses the amine sweetening process. Content was also added on the system components; cyclone scrubbers, filtration, lean/rich amine heat exchanger, and amine regenerator. Images were also added to this module in order to make it more intuitive.
Each module has a 10 question quiz that will test the readers understanding of the topics covered. The quizzes are made up of multiple choice and True/False questions. A 90% or higher is required to receive a passing grade. It is important to note that if a user received a passing grade on the Amine Gas Sweetening Overview lesson previously, their passing grade will remain, and they will not have to redo the quiz.
